Honey Cinnamon Cookies
Delicious Honey Cookies Recipe
A great family treat made with just a few easy ingredients, these honey cookies are sure to please everyone! Don’t forget to add the rum as it is a game changer.
Ingredients:
500 g all-purpose flour
6 heaping tablespoons honey
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 package (about 5 g) ground cinnamon
2-3 drops of vinegar (white or apple cider)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon fine dark rum (optional for added flavor)
2 large eggs
125 g (1/2 package) unsalted butter, softened
Instructions:
Prepare the oven:
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius (or 190 degrees without convection).
Make the dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, honey, powdered sugar, ground cinnamon, vinegar, baking soda, dark rum (if using), eggs, and softened butter.
Mix well until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour until it reaches the desired consistency.
Knead the dough:
Lightly flour your work surface and knead the dough for a couple of minutes until smooth and elastic.
Shape the cookies:
Grease your hands with a little oil to prevent sticking. Roll out the dough and use cookie cutters to shape the cookies.
Arrange on a baking tray:
Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Place the shaped cookies on the tray, ensuring there’s one to two centimeters of space between each cookie to allow for spreading.
Bake the cookies:
Bake the honey cookies in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until they have puffed up and turned a light golden-pink color. Keep a close eye on them to avoid overbaking.
Cool the cookies:
Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Tips for Success:
Storage: Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature, where they will stay fresh for several days.
Customization: Feel free to add nuts, chocolate chips, or dried fruits to the dough for an added twist. You can also substitute honey with maple syrup for a different flavor profile.
Happy baking, and enjoy sharing these delightful treats with friends and family during the holidays or any time you fancy a sweet indulgence!
