Honey Cinnamon Cookies

Delicious Honey Cookies Recipe

A great family treat made with just a few easy ingredients, these honey cookies are sure to please everyone! Don’t forget to add the rum as it is a game changer.

Ingredients:

  • 500 g all-purpose flour

  • 6 heaping tablespoons honey

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1/2 package (about 5 g) ground cinnamon

  • 2-3 drops of vinegar (white or apple cider)

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 tablespoon fine dark rum (optional for added flavor)

  • 2 large eggs

  • 125 g (1/2 package) unsalted butter, softened

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius (or 190 degrees without convection).

  2. Make the dough:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, honey, powdered sugar, ground cinnamon, vinegar, baking soda, dark rum (if using), eggs, and softened butter.

    • Mix well until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour until it reaches the desired consistency.

  3. Knead the dough:

    • Lightly flour your work surface and knead the dough for a couple of minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. Shape the cookies:

    • Grease your hands with a little oil to prevent sticking. Roll out the dough and use cookie cutters to shape the cookies.

  5. Arrange on a baking tray:

    • Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Place the shaped cookies on the tray, ensuring there’s one to two centimeters of space between each cookie to allow for spreading.

  6. Bake the cookies:

    • Bake the honey cookies in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until they have puffed up and turned a light golden-pink color. Keep a close eye on them to avoid overbaking.

  7. Cool the cookies:

    • Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips for Success:

  • Storage: Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature, where they will stay fresh for several days.

  • Customization: Feel free to add nuts, chocolate chips, or dried fruits to the dough for an added twist. You can also substitute honey with maple syrup for a different flavor profile.

Happy baking, and enjoy sharing these delightful treats with friends and family during the holidays or any time you fancy a sweet indulgence!
