Authentic Italian Tiramisu Recipe
Tiramisu is the ultimate Italian dessert - a true masterpiece! With just four main ingredients: mascarpone cheese, eggs, ladyfingers, and coffee, this classic no-bake dessert is incredibly easy to make and absolutely delicious.
Ingredients
Ladyfingers: 300 g (~10 oz) of Savoiardi (about 30 cookies)
Mascarpone: 500 g (1.1 pound) of mascarpone cheese
Eggs: 4 medium eggs (~220 g or 7.7 oz, without shells)
Sugar: 100 g (½ cup) of granulated sugar
Coffee: 300 ml (1 ¼ cup) of espresso coffee
Marsala or rum: 2 tablespoons of Marsala wine or rum (optional)
Decoration: Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
Instructions
Prepare Coffee: Brew the coffee and stir in 2 tablespoons of Marsala wine if using. Set aside to cool.
Separate Eggs: Whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form and set aside. In another bowl, beat the egg yolks with sugar until light and smooth, about 3 to 5 minutes.
Mix Mascarpone: Gently work the mascarpone cheese in a bowl to soften it, then add it to the yolks and sugar mixture.
Combine Mixtures: Fold the whipped egg whites into the mascarpone mixture carefully, mixing until smooth and creamy.
Layer the Tiramisu: Quickly dip the ladyfingers in the coffee (about 1 to 2 seconds), then arrange them in a baking dish. Cover with a layer of mascarpone cream. Repeat the layers as desired.
Chill: Dust the top with cocoa powder and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or preferably overnight for the best flavor.
Enjoy this classic Italian tiramisu as a delightful ending to any meal - it's sure to impress your family and friends!
