Jasmine Rice
Ingredients
For No Rinsing Method:
200 g jasmine rice
310 ml cold tap water
For Rinsed Rice Method:
200 g jasmine rice
280 ml water
Instructions
No Rinsing Method (Everyday Use):
In a medium saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, combine the rice and water.
Bring the mixture to a rapid simmer over medium-high heat without the lid.
Once simmering, reduce the heat to low or medium-low to maintain a gentle simmer. Cover the saucepan with the lid—do not lift the lid during cooking.
Cook for 12 minutes, or until the water is absorbed. To check, carefully tilt the pot (if using a non-glass lid, quickly lift the lid).
After cooking, keep the lid on and remove from the heat. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
Fluff the rice with a rubber spatula or rice paddle before serving.
Rinsed Rice Method:
Place the rice in a bowl and fill it with water. Swish the rice around until the water becomes cloudy. Drain the cloudy water.
Repeat this process 2-3 more times until the water is relatively clear (it doesn’t need to be perfectly clear).
Drain the rice in a colander and transfer it back to the saucepan.
Add water, using 1 1/4 cups of water minus 2 tablespoons for each cup of rice. Follow the cooking steps outlined in the No Rinsing Method above.
Enjoy your perfectly cooked jasmine rice!
